The wagons, the first to be supplied by Kiruna Wagon to a customer outside Sweden, will be used to carry iron ore from the mines at Ørtfjell to the processing facilities and docks at Mo i Rana.

Kiruna Wagon says the bottom-dumping vehicles will have a 30-tonne axleload and a significantly lower tare weight than similar wagons.

Rana Gruber has submitted an application to Norwegian infrastructure manager Jernbaneverket to upgrade the line between Ørtfjell and Mo i Rana for 30-tonne axleloads, which would allow the wagons to operate at their maximum capacity.

Since 2004 Kiruna Wagon has supplied more than 1000 Fammoorr 050 ore hoppers to Swedish mining company LKAB.
