The 200km/h vehicles were originally supplied by a consortium of SGP, Austria, and CKD Vagonka, Czech Republic, between 1997 and 2007.

Under the first Koruna 553.6bn contract, Škoda will upgrade 22 Bmz vehicles, four of which will retain their compartments with the remainder being converted to open coaches. Nine of these vehicles will be equipped for passengers with reduced mobility.

The second Koruna 570.4m contract covers the modernisation of 71 vehicles comprising seond class Bmz and first class Apmz coaches together with WRmz restaurant cars.

As part of the refurbishment all of the vehicles will be equipped with new passenger information systems, electronic reservation systems, and passenger Wi-Fi.
