Opole placed a Zlotys 88m ($US 23.1m) order for five trains in November 2015, with funding coming from the regional and national governments as well as the European Regional Development Fund Operational Programme for 2014-2020.

Each three-car set will seat 176 passengers and will be equipped with passenger Wi-Fi, at-seat 230V ac power sockets, and storage areas for bicycles.

Three trains are due to enter service by the end of this year and the remaining two sets will be delivered by January 2018. The contract includes an option for two additional trains.

Opole was the 11th Polish region to order Impuls EMUs.
