The first 38 trains for the order were built in Siemens' Krefeld plant in Germany and entered service in January, which Siemens says is about six months earlier than planned. Some of the trains will used in Sochi for the 2014 winter Olympic Games.
Production starts in Russia of Desiro Rus emus
A ceremony was held in Yekaterinburg on May 25 to mark the start of production on the Russian build of 1200 "Lastochka" or Swallow emu cars for Russian Railways (RZD). Siemens and Sinara are building the trains under a €2 bn contract won in 2011.
