The 70% low-floor, three-section LRV, which CRRC Dalian says is the first of its kind, was manufactured and tested at the company’s Zhuhai factory.
The LRVs are being delivered under a contract awarded to CRRC Dalian in April, which also covers the construction of a 5.2km extension to Line 5 which runs through the centre of Shenfu New Town.
The vehicle has a maximum operating speed of 70km/h, and is equipped to operate with 750V dc overhead electrification and through an auxiliary system of supercapacitors.
The LRV has a steel-aluminium alloy body with large windows, and is equipped with an interior fire sprinkler system. CRRC says that the LRV’s construction is designed to improve durability and performance while also reducing noise emissions.
