The 1.2kW dc three-car trains were designed specifically to meet the operating requirements of the 18km line, which features sections of street running, and each set is equipped with enhanced impact absorption elements and magnetic rail brakes.
The 100km/h trains seat 133 passengers, 12 of them in first class and feature a 60% low-floor section with a floor height of 385mm. The emus will enter service in the middle of this year, and will support the introduction of a 15-minute interval peak service between Wil and Wängi in December.
