The DMU, which was developed by TMH subsidiary Metrowagonmash (MWM), can be used on high and low-density urban, suburban and regional routes with high and low platforms. TMH says the train will provide a solution for non-electrified lines, which currently comprise 50% of the Russian network.

The 120km/h train is equipped with two 360kW diesel power packs. The three-car set accommodates up to 229 seated passengers, including 60 and 73 seats in the two driving cars respectively and 96 seats in the intermediate car. TMH is currently offering the two-car configuration, while the three-car variation will be available from next year. The train can also be operated in multiple to increase capacity.

The train is fitted with an anti-crash system, while the cab has seats for a driver, assistant and observer, but can also be operated by a single driver.

The interior and exterior meet fire and hygiene regulations, and the cabin is equipped with passenger information screens that display the current and next station, while screens on the outside display the train’s destination.

MWM is currently fulfilling an order for 23 DMUs from the Central Suburban Passenger Company, and delivered the first three sets to Sakhalin Island in Russia’s Far East in July.
