The three-car trains will seat160, eight of them in first class, with spaces for two wheelchairs and nine bicycles.

The trains will also be equipped with sliding steps to bridge the gap between the train and the platform for increased passenger safety and easier access.

The Ministry of Economic Affairs, Labour, Energy and Transport of the German state of Saarland awarded contracts to DB Regio and Vlexx to operate the Saar Electric Network for 15 years in January, starting from December 2019.
