VTG is responsible for the development and production of two prototype vehicles, including obtaining the necessary certification. Final assembly will be carried out at the Waggonbau Graaf workshops in Elze, Germany, while the cryogenic parts, vessels, and cabinets will be produced by Chart Ferox at its Decin facility in the Czech Republic. Assembly of the prototypes is due to be completed by the end of this year.

VTG says the wagons will be capable of carrying double the payload of an LNG tank container with a holding time of up to six weeks. A new suspension system has been developed between the cryogenic vessel and the wagon frame has been developed specifically for the new wagons.

The wagons will run on 25-tonne wheelsets and there will be an option for GPS monitoring of the pressurised container.
