Ansaldo STS share of the contract is worth €82m and encompasses design, supply, installation and commissioning of all signalling systems, including ETCS Level 2 and electronic interlockings. It will also be responsible for electrical substations and traction power supplies as well as air-conditioning, ventilation and heating in the technical buildings.
The 57km line, which includes a 12km connection with the existing line at Brescia West, is due to open in April 2016. The adjoining section of high-speed line between Milan and Treviglio is already operational.
