KAZAKHSTAN Railways (KTZ) has selected KazElectroPrivod (KEP), a joint venture of Alstom and Kamkor, Kazakhstan, in a €90m contract to supply 10,000 point machines over a period of 10 years. Delivery will commence this year.
KAZAKHSTAN Railways (KTZ) has selected KazElectroPrivod (KEP), a joint venture of Alstom and Kamkor, Kazakhstan, in a €90m contract to supply 10,000 point machines over a period of 10 years. Delivery will commence this year.
Alstom and Kamkor, a subsidiary of KTZ which solely manufactures point machines, established the 50:50 joint venture in January. KEP is based at the Almaty Wagon Repair Plant which is owned by Kamkor.
The first point machines of the order will be imported from Alstom's plant in Bologna, Italy, while the Almaty workshop is rebuilt to suit the needs of new production. Alstom's share of the contract is €65m.
