SBB says this amount is adequate to maintain its heavily-used track. The railway will focus on track renewal and reducing the number of speed restrictions from 60 in 2010 to less than 10 by 2015.
SBB secures funding for track upgrading
The Swiss Federal Council has recommended payments of SFr 6.62bn ($US 7.44bn) to maintain Switzerland's railway infrastructure under the terms of the 2013 - 2016 performance agreement with Swiss Federal Railways (SBB).
