GERMAN infrastructure manager DB Networks has taken delivery of the first of five new Multi Tasker heavy cranes from Kirow, Germany.

Three of the cranes, including the first unit, will have a maximum lifting capacity of 160 tonnes, while the remaining two will be capable of lifting a 100-tonne load.

DB Networks is investing €35m in new cranes and support vehicles to replace equipment dating back to the mid-1970s. Each new crane train will be formed of the Multi Tasker; match wagons and counterweight wagons supplied by Tratravagonka, Slovakia; and a crew coach equipped with a kitchen, workshop, and sleeping accommodation.
