Rail Vehicles is based in Valencia and its business activities include the development and manufacture of diesel-electric locomotives and light rail vehicles. In the 2014 financial year the company generated sales of €223.3m, which was followed by €182.4m in the first nine months of 2015. Vossloh purchased the Valencia plant from Alstom in November 2004.
Vossloh says following the sale, the equity of the Vossloh Group will increase by "an amount in the middle to high-double-digit range" and that the cash flow will reduce the net financial debt of Vossloh Group. It adds that it is "an important step in the medium-term strategy approved in December 2014."
Vossloh also plans to fully or partially sell its Kiel-based Locomotives and its Electrical System divisions no later than next year.
