FRENCH National Railways (SNCF) resumed dynamic testing on the second phase of the LGV Est high-speed line from Baudrecourt to Vendenheim on February 29. It had suspended testing following the accident at Eckwersheim on November 14 2015.

The company says the route will be commissioned on July 3 2016 and that testing will be 'supervised' by new procedures which include conducting all tests with Automatic Train Protection fully activated. Track and catenary testing will be completed first, followed by that of the radio and signalling systems.

The location of the accident remains sealed off pending further investigations and will not be subject to the dynamic tests.
