Daugavpils orders Russian trams

THE procurement commission of the city council in Daugavpils, Latvia, has approved the acquisition of eight Russian trams for the city’s 1524mm-gauge tram network.

The €4.1m contract will be awarded to import agent Railvec, Latvia and the vehicles will be built by Transmashholding (TMH) subsidiary Tver Carriage Works (TVZ) to the type 71-911 City Star design developed by PK Transportnye Sistemy, Russia.

The 16.4m-long single-section vehicles will be 2.5m wide with capacity for up to 180 passengers.
