Izmit launches light rail tender

IZMIT, a city of more than 300,000 inhabitants in northwest Turkey, has issued a tender notice for a contract to build the city's first light rail line.

The 10km 11-station east-west line will link Otogar with the ferry terminal at Seka and services will be operated by a fleet of 40m-long low-floor LRVs, which will accommodate up to 240 passengers.

The deadline for submission of bids is March 31.
