MOROCCAN National Railways (ONCF) has awarded a €130m contract to Alstom for the supply of 30 electric Prima locomotives following an international tender launched by ONCF in March 2017.

The locomotives will be manufactured at Alstom’s Belfort plant in France, while Alstom’s Moroccan team will be responsible for after sales service and maintenance.

The Prima M4 3kV dc locomotives have an output of 5.5MW and a maximum speed of 160km/h. They will be designed so that they can be equipped with ETCS Level 1.

This is Alstom’s second order from ONCF for Prima locomotives, with 20 units entering service in 2011.
