Overall passenger numbers on the national network rose from 37.8 million in 2014 to 39.8 million last year, representing the strongest percentage increase since ridership returned to growth in 2013.
Dublin's Luas light rail network also achieved significant ridership growth last year, with passenger numbers increasing by 6.1% to 34.6 million.
