The project will involve extending the Thomson Line beyond its current planned terminus at Woodlands across the Straits of Johor to terminate near Malaysian Railways' Johor Bahru central station. The line will have co-located customs facilities at stations on both sides of the border, allowing commuters to clear immigration at a single location. Singapore Land Transport Authority says the line will be operational by 2018.
