TURKEY's Ministry of Transport has awarded Italian State Railways subsidiary Italferr a contract worth around €1.5m to carry out studies into the construction of a new rail link between Ankara and Esenboga International Airport.
The year-long project will see Italferr carry out feasibility studies and preliminary design for the 27km line, as well as eight intermediate stations.
Around 7.6 million domestic and 9.2 million international passengers passed through Esenboga in 2012, making it the fifth-busiest airport in Turkey.
