Alstom says Ixege is the first bogie to combine the ability to rotate with a low-floor. This is achieved by having a very flat underfloor primary suspension which is only 450mm above the rail, and by using a permanent magnet motor which is small enough to be installed outside the bogie frame. Ixege is designed to filter wheel-rail contact vibrations. Ixege also enables LRVs to be designed which a wider low-floor area.

IRJ - live at the UITP Congress in Vienna. ALSTOM is launching its new Ixege pivoting bogie for low-floor LRVs. Ixege is designed to improve the ride quality on poor-quality track. It underwent extensive tests last year on the test tracks in Valenciennes, France, and Wildenrath, Germany, where it reached a record speed for LRVs of 125km/h, and on the tram network in Katowice, Poland. Final tests will be conducted at the new dynamic test centre in Neuhausen, Switzerland. The first application of Ixege will be on 36 LRVs being built for Istanbul and 31 plus 7 Citadis Dualis tram-trains on order from French National Railways (SNCF).
