GERMAN leasing company, Railpool, is the first company to purchase Siemens' new Vectron locomotive launched at InnoTrans. Railpool has ordered six 6.4MW ac electric locomotives for an undisclosed sum.
The 200km/h units will used to haul passenger and freight trains in Germany and Austria. Each four-axle Vectron will weigh 87 tonnes. Delivery will start in mid-2012.
Vectron is available in multi-system, ac or dc electric and diesel-electric versions and is the successor to Siemens' Eurosprinter and Eurorunner locomotives.
