Shanghai orders Movia trains for Metro Line 12

CHANGCHUN Bombardier Railway Vehicles (CRBC) has been awarded a Yuan 1.99 billion ($US 291 million) contract to supply 246 Movia metro cars for Shanghai Metro Line 12. The contract comprises 41 six-car trains, spare parts and staff training.
The vehicles will be assembled by CBRC at its site in Changchun with deliveries taking place between 2012 and 2014. Traction equipment will be manufactured by Bombardier CPC Propulsion System in Changzhou and at Bombardier's Vasteras site in Sweden.
Bombardier's share of the contract is Yuan 941 million. The latest order takes the number of vehicles supplied to Shanghai Metro by Bombardier and its Chinese partners to 1122, with trains already operating on lines 1, 2, 7, and 9.
