Škoda was the only bidder to meet the specific requirements of the tender, which stipulates that delivery must begin within 15 months of the contract being signed. CD will receive the final train by mid-2015.
The order comprises five three-car class 645 sets, which will seat 241 passengers and two class 650 two-car trains seating 160. Both types have a maximum speed of 160km/h and are equipped for operation under both 3kV dc and 25 kV 50Hz ac electrification systems.
The new trains will operate services in South Bohemia, principally on regional line S2 (Křenovice – Brno – Blansko – Letovice), replacing older trains and provide additional capacity on regional services.
