The track maintenance vehicles will be fitted with cranes and power packs for snow removal equipment, while catenary maintenance units will be equipped with pantographs, cranes and platforms, as well as a pusher device for supporting the contact and messenger wire during maintenance operations.
Power will be provided by a 500kW diesel engine and the ETCS-equipped units will have a maximum speed of 100km/h. The cab will accommodate up to seven people including the driver.
The first vehicles will be delivered in January 2016 and will undergo trials for a year before delivery of the remaining eight units begins in March 2017. The contract includes options for 10 additional vehicles.
Windhoff will also supply a mock-up with loading equipment to allow crew training to begin before the vehicles are delivered.
