KNORR-BREMSE announced on September 28 that it plans to buy out its partner in its ICER Rail joint venture to expand its presence in the train braking friction materials market.

The purchase price is undisclosed and the acquisition is subject to approval by the anti-trust authorities.

ICER Rail was founded in 2010 as a joint venture between Knorr-Bremse and the Spanish Berkelium Group. The company develops and produces friction materials for almost all train braking applications at its factory in Pamplona, Spain.

This acquisition forms part of Knorr-Bremse’s ongoing growth strategy.
