BRITAIN's infrastructure manager, Network Rail (NR), has agreed framework deals with Ansaldo STS, Infrasig, Invensys Rail, and Signalling Solutions to develop and design ETCS Level 2 signalling and train control for use in Britain.
BRITAIN's infrastructure manager, Network Rail (NR), has agreed framework deals with Ansaldo STS, Infrasig, Invensys Rail, and Signalling Solutions to develop and design ETCS Level 2 signalling and train control for use in Britain.
The objective is to demonstrate the equipment on NR's new testing facility on the Hartford loop north of London with a view to awarding contracts in 2014.
The first installation of ERTMS will be on the London - Bristol Great Western Main Line starting in 2016, followed by the London - Edinburgh East Coast Main Line from 2018, and the London - Sheffield Midland Main Line from 2020.
