ČD purchased the locomotives to replace the unreliable class 714, which were built in the mid-1990s, for arranging passenger trains and shunting for maintenance.
The new 794.002-013 series locomotives have been deployed throughout the Czech Republic at large railway junctions, including Prague, Brno, Olomouc, Hradec Králové, Pilsen and Ústí nad Labem.
“The main benefit for the operator is the high reliability of the new locomotives,” says CZ Loko sales director, Mr Jan Kutálek. “The locomotives also save approximately 40% of operating fluids and their servicing is very inexpensive. People around the railway will appreciate the noise reduction and compliance with the strictest EU Stage IIIB emission limits.”
EffiShunter 300 was developed by CZ Loko as the smallest locomotive in its product range. The two-axle locomotive is equipped with a CAT C13 328kW engine, with a maximum speed of 60km/h.
With its small loading gauge, EffiShunter 300 can also be used in metros and on other special railways - a feature that last year helped CZ Loko win a contract from Warsaw metro.
