A $US 2m rehabilitation project carried out by Kato Contractors, Uganda, is nearing completion and RVR Group CEO Mr Darlan De David said last week he expects trial runs to begin on July 31. The works have included removal of anthills, restoration of washed-out sections damaged by flooding, and the installation of new culverts.

The final task will be the reinstatement of five level crossings on the western section of the line between Lolim and Pakwach.

The line is expected to carry freight from neighbouring countries including the Democratic Republic of Congo and South Sudan to Nairobi and Mombasa in Kenya.
