BRITAIN’s transport secretary, Mr Grant Shapps, has confirmed that Mr Allan Cook, chairman of HS2 Ltd, the company overseeing the development of the 338km London - Birmingham - Manchester/Leeds high-speed project, does not believe that the scheme is deliverable within the current budget of £55.7bn at 2015 prices or that the current schedule for the start of services on phase one in 2026 is realistic.
