This follows an €80m contract awarded to Bombardier in November 2019 to modernise the fleet's 37 Traxx electric locomotives and 51 double-deck driving trailers.
The trains, which operate on Bremen - Hamburg, Cuxhaven - Hamburg and Hamburg - Uelzen - Hannover - Göttingen RE services, have reached the mid-point of their 30-year life and require refurbishment.
LNVG says all materials required for the modernisation work except for consumables will be provided by Bombardier.
Options include the installation of automatic passenger counting devices, corrosion remediation beyond the scope of the work included in the contract, and a large-scale renewal of the vehicle floors.
LNVG will accept questions from bidders regarding the tender up to May 6. Binding offers must remain valid until October 31. The work is scheduled to start on June 1 2021 and must be completed by December 31 2026.
