Beacon Rail Leasing says the acquisition of the 120km/h dual-mode locomotives is a natural extension of its strategy as well as its commitment to supporting investment in dual-mode locomotives.

“These Bitracs add to our existing portfolio of dual-mode locomotives allowing us to continue leveraging our existing skills, expertise, and experience,” says Mr Rob Dee, chief commercial officer of Beacon Rail Leasing.

SNCF Logistics acquired the remaining shares in Comsa Rail Transport in July 2018, renaming the company SNCF Captrain España. The company, Spain’s first open-access freight operator, has grown rapidly over the last five years, increasing the number of trains operated from 8400 in 2013 to 19,200 in 2017. The company had a turnover of €32m in 2017 and employs nearly 200 staff.
