CLIP Intermodal, Poland, has signed contracts with Alstom for a total of 13 Traxx 3 multi-system locomotives.
The 160km/h locomotives will be used on the Poland - France corridor and will be certified for operation in Poland, Austria, Germany, Luxembourg, Belgium and France. They will be equipped with Alstom’s Onvia (former Atlas) onboard ETCS solution.
Manufacturing of the locomotives will take place at Alstom’s plant in Kassel, Germany, with locomotive bodies set to be produced at the supplier’s plant in Wroclaw, Poland.
Clip Intermodal is a subsidiary of the Clip Group, a private group of Polish logistics companies. The company recently expanded its intermodal terminal in Swarzędz, Poland, to include eight loading tracks with capacity for more than 1 million TEU annually. Clip already has a fleet of 500 intermodal wagons and says investing in its own locomotives is a “natural” step and milestone in the development of Clip Group.
