Shanghai Keolis, a joint venture between Shanghai Shentong Metro Group (51%) and Keolis (49%), will form a new joint venture called Shenjia with the authority to operate the catenary-free network, which will serve Jiaxing’s 4.65 million residents. Jiaxing, in the Zhejiang region, is adjacent to Shanghai in the Yangtze River Delta.

The network will comprise two lines spanning 15.6km with 26 stations, including Jiaxing regional station and Jiaxing South station, which connects with high-speed services. Light rail services will be provided with 20 CRRC LRVs, with ridership expected to reach 50,000 passengers a day.

A third line will be added in 2023, bringing the total length to 35.7km, with 55 stations and 45 LRVs.

Shanghai Keolis will manage a new company set up to operate and maintain the network, and will also train 200 new employees, including drivers, maintenance technicians and customer support staff.
