The extension from Mesa Drive serves stations at Stapley Drive and Gilbert Road before terminating at a transit centre and park-and-ride facility at the intersection of Gilbert Road and Main Street.
The total cost of the project was $US 184m including $US 16.9m for rolling stock. Valley Metro awarded Siemens a $US 57.9m contract in May 2017 to supply 11 S70 LRVs for the expanded network.
