TRANSMASHHOLDING (TMH) subsidiary Metrowagonmash has signed a contract for the manufacture and supply of 10 four-car trains for Tashkent Metro, which will be delivered to Uzbekistan’s capital by the end of the year.

The 90km/h trains will be equipped with asynchronous electric traction motors and will consist of two head cars, an intermediate powered car and an intermediate trailer.

The trains will feature open gangways and 1.4m-wide doors with external lighting to indicate that the doors are opening or closing. The lead cars have space for passengers in wheelchairs while each car will be fitted with touchscreen information monitors with interactive search capabilities offering route planning, destination information and journey time calculation. The trains are also equipped with CCTV, air-conditioning and air disinfection systems.

The contract is funded through a loan agreement with Uzbek state corporation VEB.RF and Roseksimbank.

Tashkent Metro already operates five class 81-765.5, 766.5, and 767.5 metro trains, which were purchased in 2019.
