Doppelbauer has been executive director since January 2015 and led the Agency through a period of transition and expansion as it took over responsibility for EU-wide vehicle authorisations and safety certification.
Doppelbauer has more than 25 years of experience in railway technology. Before joining the agency he was chief technical officer of Bombardier Transportation and has also chaired the European Rail Research Advisory Council (ERRAC).
