California’s governor scales back high-speed rail project
THE governor of California, Mr Gavin Newsom, announced on February 12, during his first state of the state address, that California’s high-speed rail project will be scaled back due to spiralling costs and poor oversight, and only the section currently under construction in the Central Valley will be completed. This means plans to connect San Francisco and Sacramento with Los Angeles and San Diego will be dropped.
