CHENNAI became the seventh Indian city to launch a metro network on June 29, when the chief minister of Tamil Nadu Dr Selvi Jayalalithaa inaugurated the 9km elevated section of Line 2 from Koyambedu to Alandur.
ALSTOM has successfully delivered the first two trains manufactured at its inaugural Indian rolling stock plant in Sricity, Andhra Pradesh to Chennai Metro Rail (CMRL) as part of a €243m order for 42 Metropolis trains placed in 2010.
ALSTOM has unveiled the first completed Metropolis train for Chennai metro at its Lapa plant in the Brazilian state of São Paulo.
