GE Transportation says it has shipped the first batch of ES43 ACi Evolution Series diesel locomotives for Pakistan Railways (PR).

PR placed an order in June 2015 for 55 of the 1676mm-gauge six-axle locomotives, which are equipped with a 3.4MW 12-cylinder Gevo12 engine and have a maximum speed of 120km/h.

Assembly is being carried out at GE Transportation’s plant in Erie, Pennsylvania, and deliveries are due to be completed in the middle of next year.
