Dutch MaaS platform takes key step forward

THE Dutch anti-monopoly Authority for Consumers & Markets (ACM) has approved the further development of a national Mobility as a Service (MaaS) platform which will allow public transport services such as bus, light rail, metro and train to be booked together with shared cars and taxis.

The platform is a joint initiative between Netherlands Railways (NS), Amsterdam Municipal Transport (GVB), Rotterdam Electric Tram (RET), and The Hague Tramways (HTM).

The partners plan to introduce the service in 2021, with other operators invited to offer their services through the platform.

Passengers planning a journey will be able to see clear options across multiple modes of transport, and will also be able to book and pay for the trip.
