SIEMENS and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) have issued a bid to rival General Electric's offer for the power division of Alstom which would enable the French firm to retain some of its energy assets as well as its transport portfolio.
THE latest survey by SCI Verkehr, Germany, of the world's 50 largest rolling stock manufacturers shows a new line up of the top 10 companies, with CAF, Hyundai-Rotem and Kawasaki being ousted by Stadler, Trinity Industries and Uralvagonzavod.
SPEAKING at the 2014 Electrical Products Group conference in Florida on May 21, Mr Jeff Immelt, chairman and CEO of GE, said the acquisition of Alstom's power division is "a deal which we expect to close." He said GE is targeting closure in 2015.
