Israel starts electric test running in Tel Aviv

CAF and Shapir awarded Jerusalem light rail project contract
JERUSALEM Transportation Masterplan Team (JTMT) has awarded the TransJerusalem J-Net consortium, comprised of CAF and the construction firm Shapir, a €1.8bn contract to undertake an extension to the Jerusalem light rail network.

THE first low floor LRV for Tel Aviv’s light rail Red Line was presented to Mr Efi Kalifa, Tel Aviv Metropolitan Mass Transit System (NTA) vice-president, systems and technology, at the CRRC Changchun Railway Vehicles plant on April 16.

Israel Railways reports $US 91m loss in 2018
ISRAEL Railways (IR) reported a loss of Shekels 330m ($US 91.1m) in 2018, a sharp decline from the loss of Shekels 30m in 2017, a result which has prompted the company to introduce a series of cost-saving measures to improve the situation.
