BELGIAN public transport operator De Lijn has selected Bombardier as preferred bidder for a contract to supply 48 low-floor LRVs after the €128.6m deal was approved by the Flemish minister for mobility and public works, Mrs Hilde Crevits.
THE governor of the Brazilian state of São Paulo, Mr. Geraldo Alckmin, has authorised the launch of a tender for the acquisition of 65 eight-car emus for São Paulo commuter rail operator Paulista Metropolitan Trains Company (CPTM).
SWISS Federal Railways (SBB) has placed a €200m order with Alstom for an additional eight ETR 610 Pendolino tilting emus. The order is an option from a contract for seven trains signed in March 2004 by Alstom and Cisalpino, the now defunct joint venture between Trenitalia and SBB.
SIEMENS has announced it will cease production of the ER20 Eurorunner diesel-electric locomotive following the delivery of the final orders to Metrans in the Czech Republic and Adria Transport, Slovenia. The design will be superseded by the Vectron DE, which was unveiled at InnoTrans in Berlin in 2010.
AFTER a subdued start to 2012, Vossloh has reported a healthy increase in second quarter sales, which rose 4.5% compared with the same period last year. Overall, first half sales rose 1.8% to €571.3m, while the group's order backlog stands at €1.5bn.
