ALGERIAN National Railways and Systra signed a memorandum of understanding to create an Algerian rail engineering joint venture at a meeting of the Algerian-French Economic Joint Committee (Comefa) on October 26, which was attended by Mr Laurent Fabius, French foreign and international development minister, and Algerian industry and mines minister Mr Abdeslam Bouchouareb.
SWEDISH infrastructure manager Trafikverket has selected a consortium of Systra and Cowi, Denmark, to provide technical consultancy services for a section of the Ostlänken high-speed line, the first phase of a high-speed link from Stockholm to Gothenburg and Malmö.
BUENOS Aires metro authority Sbase president Mr Juan Pablo Piccardo has announced that the authority is set to launch a tender this year to construct the first stage of metro Line F from Constitution Plaza Callao to Santa Fe. Work on the project is expected to start in 2016 and will take four years to complete.
SOCIÉTÉ du Grand Paris (SGP), the public organisation responsible for developing the city's 205km orbital express metro network has awarded contracts to two groups for project management services on the southern section of the 75km Line 15 (Red Line).
